Bullion gold mine, also known as the Bullion Pit and China Pit. Located in the Cariboo region near Quesnel Lake, the mine is one of the largest hydraulic placer gold mines in the world, and one of the earliest gold mining operations by the Chinese in British Columbia. Gold was found on the site in the 1870s and was first worked on a small scale by Chinese miners. By 1894, it had become a large-scale operation, and was worked on and off by a number of different owners until 1942 when it was abandoned. An early owner was William Plato Likely.
